Aldbourne Band are delighted to announce the appointment of Glyn Williams as full time Musical Director. Working with the band since 2018, Williams’ exceptional musical direction has already led Aldbourne to phenomenal success, notably winning the West of England Regional Championships in 2022 and 2025.
“I’m incredibly proud to be MD of such a talented and dedicated band” commented Williams. “Aldbourne’s commitment to develop and improve is tremendous and I’m looking forward to leading their assault on this years British Open, National Finals and Brass in Concert.”
Williams takes over the contest baton from Ivan Meylemans and Katrina Marzella-Wheeler. Meylemans’ expert direction during his tenure resulted in a podium place at the British Open in 2022, whilst Marzella-Wheeler’s impressive work at Brass in Concert 2024 achieved great success for the band.

• Celebrated 30 years playing euphonium in elite level banding, at Fodens and Cory Band. To date, the Adam’s Artist has received 18 awards in competitions for Best Instrumentalist and Best Euphonium.

• 2004 – 2015 Marsden Silver Prize Band, Professional Conductor
• 2018 – Aldbourne Band:
• Directing the band to be South West of England Regional Champions in 2022 and 2025.
• Contest preparations for British Open Championships,National Brass Band Championships and latterly Brass in Concert.
• Tutorship at the National Youth Bands of Wales, Great Britain, Scotland, Switzerland.
• Clinician at the Mid-Atlantic Brass Band Festival at Rowan University, Philadelphia, USA
