The Band won the prestigious Championship Section of the West of England Brass Band competition, recently held at the Riviera International Centre in Torquay.
“The players really worked hard to combine each of the musical elements, and I was delighted at the way they performed on stage. This is a band with great attitude and a desire to keep improving” commented Glyn Williams, Aldbourne Band Musical Director.
All bands competing in the Championship section played the same composition entitled Diversions by Derek Bourgeois. Adjudicators Dr Tom Davoren and Roger Argente described Aldbourne’s performance as “Musical, masterful, and breath-taking.”
“Everyone in the band is incredibly proud of this outstanding achievement” said Matthew Richardson, Aldbourne Band Chairperson. “The commitment and dedication is outstanding and we are looking forward to representing the West of England against the best brass bands in the UK at the National Finals, at the Royal Albert Hall in October.“
